Sokoto,which is a State that is located in the extreme northwest of Nigeria has a dry sahel environment with sandy isolated hills.The temperatures in daytime, do exceed 45°C and as a result,the heat is intense.Due to its vegetation and climate, water is a luxury in a lot of communities there.

The Governor made this known in a statement on Sunday – through his spokes person, Malam Imam Imam.He said the project is also part of the government’s policy to open up the communities and improve their standard of living.
The Solar-powered project will comprise of a solar pumping system, control room, distribution system, borehole, 10,000-litre capacity tank and a security fence.
The 23 Local Government Areas of the State will benefit from the scheme through the following allocations:

This is one of the solar-powered projects in the country commissioned this year.It was designed to help pump water from the arid land in the State.The previous ones made earlier were for electricity generation.
