Sokoto, which is a State that is located in the extreme northwest of Nigeria has a dry sahel environment with sandy isolated hills. The temperatures in daytime, do exceed 45°C and as a result, the heat is intense.Due to its vegetation and climate, water is a luxury in a lot of communities there.
As a result of these, the State government has awarded and signed a contract for the construction of 250 solar water-powered schemes to be sited in rural areas within its 23 local governments
The Governor made this known in a statement on Sunday – through his spokes person, Malam Imam Imam.He said the project is also part of the government’s policy to open up the communities and improve their standard of living.
The 23 Local Government Areas of the State will benefit from the scheme through the following allocations:
|Dange Shuni, Gada and Sokoto North||14|
|Binji, Bodinga, ,, Goronyo, Gudu, Gwadabawa,, Isa, Kebbe, Kware, Rabah, Sabon Birni, Shagari, Silame, Sokoto South, Tambuwal, Tangaza, Tureta, Wamako,Yabo||10|
